The Hancock County Senior Wellness Center hosts many monthly, weekly, and annual activities and events. Seniors and disabled residents of Hancock County are invited to explore fun events from Bingo to FunDays. Healthy Activities such as Line Dancing, and Competitive Tournament Games (Wii Bowling, Ladder-Ball, Bean-Bag Horseshoes, and Billiards) are also available. Enriching experiences like Crafting, Appliqué, or the Book Club round out our slate of activities. Senior Forever Young Camp - Hancock County Senior Wellness Center is proud to offer this yearly event. Participants may choose to stay on the campgrounds or commute daily. Camp includes entertainment, crafting, miniature golf tournament, wonderful meals, room & board or transportation within Hancock County for 4 days/3 nights. The price for the entire event is just $12.00 for Hancock County residents or $15.00 for out-of-county residents. History Alive - This educational program is offered in conjunction with the WV Humanities Council. Fifteen different memorable characters from West Virginia history come to life at this event. The program is offered to students of all ages. Three to four re-creations are offered each year. Annual Christmas Party & Annual Picnic - Twice yearly the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center prepares for these celebrations. Individuals pay the nominal fee of $7.00 to enjoy food, friendship, and entertainment. Monthly Events include: Euchre & Tripoli for the card sharks. The Senior Book Club meets the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm to discuss the previous month's book. Later that day, Matinee at the Movies gets under way at 3:00pm. Featured movies include old favorites such as 'Shenandoah', 'Rear Window', and 'The Guns of Navarone'. The Appliqué Group meets at 3:30pm on the second Tuesday to work on their current project. The Senior Wellness Center also hosts several monthly health and wellness seminars that are described on the Wellness Center's web page. The last Tuesday of each month is FunDay at the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center. The Weekly Schedule of Events includes:
Crafters: A small group of volunteers who share crafting ideas and interests. Singers: These volunteers have proudly represented the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center for more than 30 years. They meet each Tuesday morning, practice their program, eat lunch at our Soup and Salad Bar, and travel by Senior Wellness Center transport to local nursing homes to provide entertainment. Line Dancers: This group meets with instruction to learn new and old line dancing steps. Bingo @ the Senior Wellness Center: This weekly event/fund raiser supports many of the activities, programs, events, and services offered by the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center. All proceeds go the benefit the seniors of Hancock County. |
