The Wellness Center groundbreaking took place on May 31, 2006. The projected cost for the project was $320,800 and was completely funded through grants and Hancock County Senior Center assets.

On May 22, 2007, the complex was Dedicated and an Open House was held.
Who Is Eligible for Membership?
Hancock County Seniors age 60+ may use any of the Wellness Center equipment and/or facilities at no cost. Hancock County residents age 50-59.99 may use the facility and its equipment at a nominal fee of $15.00 per month, which is billed quarterly. Non-Hancock County residents 50+ may use the facilities and/or equipment for $20.00 per month, billed quarterly.
An agreement, reached between the Hancock County School Board Employees and the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center Board of Directors, states that any school board employee, regardless of age and/or residency, may enjoy the benefits of the Wellness Center for $15.00 per month, billed quarterly.

The Hancock County Senior Wellness Center is open:
Monday: Wednesday 8:30a.m. – 7:00p.m.
Thursday: 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.
Friday: 8:30a.m. – 7:00p.m.
Saturday: 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m.
Do You Offer Fitness Training?
Yes!!! A certified fitness instructor conducts classes at 10:00a.m. Monday through Friday and at 6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The participation fee for each class is $3.00. The instructor’s training includes Pilates, Tai Chi, Strength and Toning, and Yoga. Please consult the schedule below to see times of each fitness discipline.

Are Wellness Programs & Services Available?
Yes!!! The Hancock Senior Wellness Center conducts a monthly Lunch & Learn Class covering topics such as: Urinary Incontinence, Breast Cancer Awareness, Relaxation Responsiveness, and Heart Health Risk Factors to name only a few. Weirton Medical Center and the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center work together to provide this educational workshop, which is held at 11:00a.m. the third Tuesday of each month.
In addition, from 10:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. each month, a registered nurse from the Hancock County Health Department is available to provide blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring.
The Hancock County Senior Wellness Center regularly teams up with other local organizations and professionals to provide healthy workshops relating to eye screenings, hearing, and stroke prevention.
Other healthy fitness programs are available at the Hancock County Senior Wellness Center. They include: Line Dancing, as well as, Tap & Jazz Classes. Furthermore, both our fitness instructor and the Weirton Medical Center provide monthly articles for ‘The Senior Connection’ our monthly newletter.
